A Family Portrait – Three Christmas Stockings

Have you ever noticed how some stockings have a stuffy foot section and not at all proportional to what a true sock would be shaped like? Not this pattern! The designer specifically worked these Christmas stockings in a true proportionate sock form and they are worked from the toe up and even come with notes on how to make these stockings into a pair of socks.

I love the use of colour and pattern on these fair isle knit stockings. This Christmas stocking pattern contains 3 different animal diagrams: Rabbit, Owl and Fox. The consistency across the foot and leg, and the cuff accented with the different animals which results in a cute matching set that all have their own uniqueness.

Celtic Sheep Stocking

I love sheep. A potentially unrealistic dream of mine to to have a homestead with a herd of sheep that I raise so that I can spin their wool and knit or crochet beautiful items from the wool of my own sheep. I have no clue how to raise sheep so, until then, I will just knit a Christmas Stocking with sheep on it until Santa can bring me a homestead with sheep.

Is it weird to have stockings for your pets? I hope not because my dogs have always had their own stockings that we fill with toys and treats because I don’t want them to feel left out on Christmas morning!

This stocking is knit top down using fair isle stranded colourwork and a short row heel. The finished stocking measures approximately 5 inches wide by 19 inches long. Perfect to pack full of special gifts for your furry best friend.

Christmas Stocking Knitting Pattern

There are a lot of fair isle stocking patterns out there and not everyone wants a multicoloured stocking. This knit stocking pattern features beautiful cables and uses a bulky weight yarn for a quick knit.

The stocking is knit in the round from the cuff down. It features a French heel – a technique term I was not familiar with until I found this pattern. It is a heel flap and gusset construction so if you are familiar with turning heels, you will have no problem with this pattern! The pattern is written out row by row, so even a beginner will be able to follow along and knit this beautiful stocking pattern.
